4 ways to get your Air Conditioner ready for spring

It seems like we only remember we have an air conditioning system when summer comes around and it gets hot inside. But here are 4 ways to get your air conditioner ready for spring 2020.

1.            SCHEDULE A PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE. Have your system checked by an HVAC professional twice a year. The recommendation is in the spring/fall months to prepare for the seasons when your air conditioner and heater will be used the most. Discovering and addressing concerns early saves time, inconvenience, and money. Our Preventative Maintenance Plan can save you money. Learn more about our Peace of Mind Service Agreements here.

2.            CHANGE THE FILTER. The easiest way to keep your system running well is to change out your air filters. Dust and debris that gather in the air filter force the system to work harder to keep the air circulating. A dirty filter redistributes the dust around your home. We recommend changing them at least 1 a month. Watch what a dirty filter looks like and what Dangers it can cause here.

3. INSTALL A PROGRAMMABLE THERMOSTAT. A programmable thermostat will save money and will help your homes temperature at a constant level both day and night. It’s in not wise to cool your house when no one is home to use the air conditioning so why not install a thermostat that will save the energy you use for the hours you’re home and awake to enjoy it!

4. CLEAR OUT YOUR VENTS. Your HVAC unit can only work at its best if there are no obstructions to the flow of air inside. Beyond having a professional go through the entire duct system, there is one easy way to check to make sure there are no visible blockages. Check the vents to make sure they are open and clear of dust. If you see dust blocking the vents, you may want to vacuum the vents.
